Wohoo!

Okay, before I tackle any problems, check out those sales numbers!!

Amazing -- Up 3000 from our starting point
SheHulk -- Up 6500
Uncanny -- Up 9000
FF -- Up 31000!!!

Heck, even though Wolverine is down 5000, that was for a FILL-IN! And we've got fan-fave Ed Brubaker coming up right behind that...

Overall, we're up, up, UP!! This is REALLY incredible, guys! Now we only need BoPow and BoPowFL to sell 69000! Which means that if even half of the folks buying FF pick up both new books, we will be above out goal!

Guys, I am REALLY thrilled! You all (definitely including Pat here) have done a phenomenal job, and I think you've got a lot to be proud of!

Well, I won't open any bottles of champagne before we see how many people stay with those books once the words "Rise of Defenders" disappears from their covers.

Of course, I agree that this is good news, but the real job here is to keep readers on board.

Besides, I don't know if Tom will add Balance of Power, the Travel Guide and Frontlines to the sales of the six books we have. If he really wants to be mean, he'll say that people drop our ongoings to make way for Balance of Power, the tie-ins and perhaps even Simians of the Caribbean or whatever that was called. And then we will have lower numbers than we started with...

It all depends how you look at it. If Tom wnats the glass to be half empty, we will have failed.

Of course if Tom wants the glass to be half empty, there's no way we could've succeeded.

Tom strikes me as the kind of guy who would measure how much water's in the glass and give you a quantitative answer. In other words, he looks at what we've done and tells us what would happen.

In that case, I'll have a bottle of Bollinger please.

Once this is over.

I'm pretty confident that, as long as we don't blow BoPow (which, judging by Phil's earlier post on that topic, will not be the case) Tom will give us some at least decent numbers on BoPow and include that in our sales. His methodology seems to be that, as long as we're taking reasonable considerations for whatever he throws at us and thinking about the comics logically instead of emotionally, he's going to rule in our favor.

I noted early on that Tom's goal for us was an aggregate increase in sales of 20%. Tom has to know that those kind of numbers are simply unattainable in the short term without introducing new material. I mean, 20% increase just from existing material in a matter of months? No way! If Tom thought that was feasible, he'd be doing that on his books already! :)

Well, if we had enough budget to get Bendis and Finch on Uncanny X-Men, Brubaker and Tony Harris on Wolverine, Joss Whedon and Phil Jimenez on Amazing Spider-Man, Stephen King and J Scott Campbell on Spectacular, Millar and Hitch on Fantastic Four and Brad Meltzer and Adam Hughes on She-Hulk, AND we could have managed to release all of our books on time (yeah, right),

we could have raised the sales by at least 20%. Without having to create a crossover.

But where's the fun in that?

Michael

Whedon, King, Meltzer, Campbell, Hitch and Hughes might not be an option for you, you may want to consider some back-ups....

Patrick, I think he was talking in the hypothetical world of "What if we had WAY more cash?" (Insert your own pun there.)

But hey, way to give away Big Money's plans!

Vallen, they would definitely need a visit from Uatu to make that What If come true.....
