USPS Replaces Tony Stark as the Number One Villain in the Marvel Universe

That's extremely irritating, Mike and Sean.

As for the varied response to Sean's oversight of Balance of Power... I don't know, man. I thought you were pretty clear that everybody was free to do whatever they wanted under a pretty loose framework, and that they were also free not to take part in the crossover. Tom is stacking the deck seriously against us, and I'm trying to come up with a serious counter-attack to the possibility that Q's going to pull many of the simulated real editors out from under us.

Difficult times lie ahead, Harry. You must now make the choice between what is right and what is easy.

The more I learn/hear about BigMoney, the less concerned I am with them.

Point 1 -- Wacker left Marvel amicably, and I think we all sent him nice notes of encouragement and whatnot.

Pont 2 -- The only Marvel folks BigMoney has even talked to were people who had ALREADY left.

Point 3 -- By all accounts so far, the titles they plan on publishing do not overlap with the superhero genre at all.

Point 4 -- BigMoney's big draw creatively speaking were DC folks. We're not going to lose any creator-following fans because, so far, they've all been migrating from DC.

Point 5 -- The only "evidence" we've seen/heard so far regarding people leaving Marvel has been idle speculation by online news sources that, to be fair, get a fair portion of attention just from stirring up attention.

Point 6 -- BigMoney is a new publisher. New publishers generally don't last more than a few years, and the main reason creators go to them is for creative freedom. Marvel isn't going anywhere and there's stability in that which creators (generally) appreciate.

I'm confident that as long as we keep our creators happy and don't try to over-edit them, we should be fine. I offered exclusives to many of current team and most have either turned it down or seemed generally unconcerned with the issue. I don't know that there's really anything we need to do UNLESS Tom starts citing unrest within the existing staff.

Wow, I don't even rate a Point 7 in the mix. Kicked to the curb....

What are you talking about, Pat? You're part of Point 2!

At least you THINK the only people we've talked to are the ones who have left.

Oh Phil, Steve said thanks again for the scrimshaw. He said you'd know what that meant.

Tell Steve that there's plenty more where that came from (but not from where he thinks) and then roar like a lion.

He'll know what I'm talking about.
